Richard Borgeois, Director, Innovation Partnerships, NYSERDA

Richard Bourgeois is the Director of Innovation Partnerships at the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), where he works to build and strengthen innovation ecosystems that accelerate the development and adoption of clean energy technologies. In this role, he connects entrepreneurs, researchers, industry partners, investors, and public-sector resources to help promising technologies progress from research and development toward commercialization and broad market impact.

During his tenure at NYSERDA, Bourgeois previously managed the organization’s Innovation Commercialization portfolio. He also led NYSERDA’s efforts to establish the National Offshore Wind Research and Development Consortium, a nationally focused partnership created to advance offshore wind technology, address industry and supply-chain challenges, and support the growth of the U.S. offshore wind sector.

Before joining NYSERDA, Bourgeois worked as a research engineer specializing in advanced energy technologies. His technical contributions have resulted in more than 20 U.S. patents covering innovations in solid oxide fuel cells, hydrogen electrolysis, and grid-scale energy storage.

Bourgeois is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York State. He holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and brings a combination of engineering expertise, commercialization experience, and ecosystem-building leadership to New York’s clean energy innovation community
