Robert C. Grace is the Founder, President, and CEO of Sustainable Energy Advantage (SEA) and a recognized leader in electricity market design and clean energy policy and strategy. For more than 25 years, he has helped governments, market participants, and nonprofit organizations navigate the evolving clean energy landscape, providing market, policy, financial, and strategic analysis to over 200 clients across the United States. His work focuses on electricity markets, policies, and business opportunities related to renewable energy and energy storage.

Trained as an interdisciplinary analyst in energy and the environment, Bob brings a comprehensive, 360-degree perspective shaped by hands-on experience working with policymakers, regulators, utilities, system operators, developers, investors, and advocates. Over the course of his career, he has worked across a wide range of functions—including policy design, market analysis, project development, procurement and origination, and strategy—enabling him to address complex, multi-stakeholder challenges in a practical, objective, and insightful manner.

Bob founded SEA’s flagship Renewable Energy Market Outlook fundamentals analysis, the Massachusetts Clean Peak Market Outlook, and the firm’s Eyes & Ears regulatory, legislative, and policy monitoring services. These offerings are relied upon by market participants and government entities throughout the northeastern U.S. to deepen market understanding, inform investment and procurement decisions, and guide long-term strategy. He has led project teams developing, implementing, and refining policies and initiatives that have driven the deployment of thousands of megawatts of renewable energy and energy storage.

Before founding SEA, Bob played a key role in early electric industry restructuring efforts at New England Power Company and later served as Director of ReGen, the green power division of AllEnergy Marketing Company, which launched the first renewable energy–based retail electricity offering in the eastern United States.

Bob is a frequent speaker, author, and committee participant on issues shaping clean energy markets and policy. He is a past board member of the Northeast Energy & Commerce Association (NECA) and former co-chair of NECA’s Renewable Energy / Distributed Generation Committee. He holds an M.S. in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Energy Studies from Brown University.
