Bob Grace is the Founder, President and CEO of Sustainable Energy Advantage (SEA), a 27 year old clean energy market and policy advisory firm serving government agencies and market participants, with a particular focus on the northeastern United States.
Since 2003, Bob and the SEA team have advised NYSERDA on the development, implementation and refinement of renewable energy policies, procurement programs and market mechanisms. This work has encompassed New York’s first-in-the-nation central procurement model, the Renewable Portfolio Standard, the Clean Energy Standard and the state’s offshore wind procurement initiatives. Bob has also advised renewable energy and storage developers participating in New York’s Tier 4, offshore wind and Index Storage Credit procurements, and more recently has supported stakeholders evaluating potential improvements to the state’s clean energy markets and procurement frameworks.
Bob founded SEA’s Eyes & Ears New York, which for more than a decade has helped developers, investors, utilities, energy service companies and other stakeholders track, interpret and respond to New York clean energy and storage policy, legislation and regulation. He also founded SEA’s New York Renewable Energy Market Outlook (NY REMO), which provides market-fundamentals analysis of the Clean Energy Standard ecosystem and its implications for investment, procurement and strategy.
A frequent speaker and author on clean energy policy and market design, Bob recently launched SEA-Scape, SEA’s public-facing Substack, including the Achieving Climate + Affordability series examining how New York and the broader region can reconcile ambitious climate objectives with affordability. He holds an M.S. in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Energy Studies from Brown University.
